Food and agribusiness produce to the Middle East region are valued at $1.2 billion. The UAE is home to a growing middle class with strong discretionary incomes, these consumers are driving a rising demand for imported products. 


The region’s dependence on imports and open trade policies represents an enormous opportunity for Australian food and agribusiness exporters. Opportunities exist predominantly in the high-value processed food sector, as well as health and wellness categories. Exporters benefit from Australia’s premium reputation for being a source of high-quality, safe, clean, and green food and beverage products. 


The UAE imports 85% of food and beverage they consumed. Australian food and agribusiness exports to the Gulf valued at $74 billion (Middle East business intelligence).  Due to its strategic location, the Gulf is also a major re-exporting hub, serving as a gateway for Australian exporters into the wider Middle East region. Who should attend?

This tour is designed for Australian food and beverage companies interested in gaining market intelligence, discovering in-market trends, and export diversification into the middle east. With a mini trade show format and the opportunity to showcase product samples, this is your chance to meet face-to-face and put your best foot forward.

The tour includes:

  • A one-to-one business matching opportunity with buyers from various channels including supermarkets, department stores, and distributors in Dubai.
  • Mini exhibition format with table to showcase your products. Note: stock consolidation co-ordinated via FIAL and support with docs and customs, and product samples will be consolidated to Dubai at a separate cost and not included in the cost to visit market.
  • Visitor tickets to Gulfood Wednesday, 19 February 2024. Held annually, Gulfood is the largest international food and beverage tradeshow in the world and is projected to welcome over 98,000 attendees from 193 countries.
  • A guided shuttle bus tour to high-end retail outlets and markets to view competitor products, experience the local Dubai shopping experience, designed to educate, and prepare you for market entry.
  • Presentations from in-market experts to learn market insights, opportunities, challenges, food and drink distribution, and trends.

Your business and products must be UAE export-ready and meet market access requirements and customs regulations. To express your interest in attending the event, you need to log into your AFBC account, click on the EVENTS tab, and select JOIN on the Gulf event.  Upon registration, your details will be sent to the relevant buyers for review, and you will be notified as to whether you have been successful in securing an appointment.

 

*Please note that completing an Expression of Interest (EOI) does not guarantee one-to-one meetings with buyers - selection will be at the discretion of the buyers. 

Successful applicants will visit Dubai as a group of emerging exporters from across Australia.

 

 

Special Conditions

Meetings are set at the buyer’s request. Suppliers are not guaranteed a meeting. Suppliers must be available to accept meetings at the times scheduled by FIAL.

Registration requires a deposit amount with full payment required once confirmed by FIAL.

Cancellation must be communicated to FIAL in writing no less than 30 days prior to the event (Thursday, 3rd November 2022), otherwise your fee will be non-refundable.

Only export ready Australian food companies with a finished food and beverage product will be considered. Note: Event dates and travel restrictions could change at any time due unforeseen circumstances.

FIAL reserves the right to cancel or postpone events-based advice.
